Nicoll Russell Studios were commissioned to design this Headquarters building to bring together and unify under one roof the management of the growing Hillcrest Group organisation. As well as promoting a new identity and “single team mindset”, the project was also to act as an exemplar for sustainable design and construction. It is a highly flexible “BREEAM Excellent” rated low carbon building, constructed in cross laminated timber and clad in stone filled gabions and glazing that carefully considers useful heat gain versus summer shading. Ground labyrinth ventilation and Biomass plant underpin the services strategy for the building.
