The Space' will provide Scotland's first dedicated School of Contemporary Dance, situated within Dundee College's Kingsway campus. The project is due for completion before Christmas 2001 with various parts of the building already handed over to the client.

The £3.5 million, lottery backed scheme incorporates a flexible theatre space specifically designed for dance performance, together with educational facilities, support accomodation, seminar rooms, rehersal and performance studios.

The building has been designed to be as flexible as possible which will allow local community and business use in parallel with its academic activities. Overlooking a substantial area of parkland the bold design of this spirited pavillion evokes the movement and energy of dance.

"At the launch of the Space, The Scottish Arts Council declared "The Space £2.3 million (of Arts Council funding) well spent" and added "This building does not only enhance Dundee's commitment to the creative industries but will enhance the reputation of the whole of Scotland".
