This reasonably small yet challenging domestic project required a sensitive solution for the alterations and extension of a delightful villa built around the early part of the 20th Century in the 'Arts and Crafts' style.
The Client's aspiration was to have a new kitchen and dining area extension which would compliment the villa's strong character and yet be of its own time.
The finished project reflected Nicoll Russell Studios respect for existing architecture of quality. Part of the old outhouse quarters were removed and almost seamlessly a new series of spaces where added to the house which through careful selection of detail, materials and finishes encaptured the spirit of the old yet presented the freshness of contemporary design.
The new arcaded dining room was designed to 'extend on' the style of the original house yet provide a new space which in a modern manner allowed the interior and garden to flow into one another and become one.
