The project consisted of the conversion of an under used Assembly Hall to provide increased mezzanine studio accommodation with additional natural lighting.

The scheme had an imaginative brief to create increased learning and teaching facilities for drawing, sculpting and painting students and also additional workshop support and administrative facilities. There was also need to consider the most advantageous way of improving space planning and fire escape provision within the existing to accommodate the new facilities, in the most cost effective way, and programmed in a manner which respected the critical educational timetable.

The evolution of the design solution resulted in a series of multi-purpose and functional spaces, which can be divided or extended by the movement of large mobile screens depending on the needs of the College.
